Jazz Festival in Limpopo

These photos I took at the Limpopo Music Festival. It was held on the 24th of November at Polokwane Cricket Club. I had so much fun and weather was not on our side. It rained non-stop, however people from Limpopo province came to the festival in large numbers. It rained so what! that was the attitude I got. This is an annual event that draws people from other provinces and the locals were not going to miss it.

 

The artists performed very well irrespective of the weather. Ray Phiri drew my attention with his signature dance moves. Lira mesmerised
me with ‘Hamba’. She is one of the best singer South Africa has ever produced. Zonke, Mdu, Muzo Boys, Candy, HHP, Zakes Bantwini and Colbert Mukwevho all entertained the jazz lovers on the day. That was a fun family day and thanks to White Star Super Maize Meal, Capricorn FM, MTN and DSTV for bringing us such a wonderful event. Next year I will be there.

Limpopo Music Festival presented by WHITE STAR Super Maize Meal

 

This is going to be another event presented by White Star Maize Meal. Venue is Polokwane Cricket Club – Limpopo Province. This will be an awesome event. Ms Gay and Mr Lesbian Beauty Pageant, presented by Goapele

The Miss Gay and Mr Lesbian Beauty pageant was held in Kagiso, Johannesburg West on the 17th Of November 2012. It was an event organised by Goapele Stationers and Bold Moves. This was an interesting event that challenged people with a negative attitude against homosexuals. Honestly, I was also not comfortable as this was the first time to do such a photography assignment in my life. I did not know how to react or act amongst them. I kept cool and focused on doing what I know best – PHOTOGRAPHY.

It is a fact, whether we like it or not Gay people are here to stay. We can go to the nearest sea and kiss the biggest shark there, they will not go anywhere anytime soon. It is a matter of accepting and moving on with life. Focus on what matters most to you and do not make it your worry that they will varnish.

 

Some of the acts that I had witnessed at the event were not pleasing to the eye. I reminded myself that this is their territory and I am only here to do my work and not to judge people. It was the first time in my life to see a master of ceremony presenting with an underwear and running around the hall.

In a nutshell it was a violence free event with no casualties and thanks to Brian Sibidla and his team who provided necessary manpower to ensure that we were safe.  The organisers are intending to have the event annually and it will be bigger. This event was planned within three weeks without a budget and it went very well.  Postmorten analysis of this past event will help the organisers to work on what needs to be improved, so that the following event could be better and attract more sponsors.

 

Phew! what an event… a Job is a Job.

Miss Soweto 2012

A stuning show presented by Drakensberg promotions and sponsored by White Star Maize Meal. The show was held at Soweto Theatre, in Soweto. The show was attended by businessmen and women of Soweto, TV personalities and community of Soweto. Lots of entertainment and stunt dancing performed by Soweto’s finest. Kedibone Mulaudzi was the programme director and added lost of humor. I liked his pants that covered his most of his shoe at the back, maybe it is a new style in the fashion world.

 

The 20 beautiful girls paraded the stage and presented various clothing to impress the judges. Unfortunately top 6 were selected and from there three winners were chose. Hape Moloi was the queen of the event and she boasted a dimple that I never missed with my camera. The judges spotted it and she even mentioned that she is the only one amongst the ladies with an eye catching dimple. It is was an eye catching dimple and deep as if someone had inserted a finger in her cheek.

That was a very beautiful event and it went very well. I enjoyed taking photographs at the event and had an awesome time. I love photography and I do enjoy concert photography so much.
